WHAT TO EXPECT
A breast lift surgery can be performed in both a hospital and in an outpatient surgical facility. Some doctors choose to use sedation and local anesthesia—which only numbs the part of the body that is being worked on—and some choose to use general anesthesia—which leaves you unconscious for the duration of the procedure.
During the procedure, the doctor will make an incision and place stitches as necessary within the breasts in order to reshape the breast tissue. The doctor may also remove the excess breast skin that is no longer necessary and shift the nipples into a higher position. After they have done the agreed-upon changes, they will bring the skin together and close the incision with stitches. The procedure can last anywhere from two to three hours and patients are able to return home the same day.
The healing process for your breast lift is delicate and will be primarily guided by your doctor. Follow instructions closely and do not engage in vigorous activity before you are advised. This will help to promote healing.
